FORT HOOD, Texas – The Fort Hood Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation will host the III Armored Corps boxing Fight Night qualifier at 6 p.m. Sept. 11 at Abrams Physical Fitness Center, Building 23001, on 62nd Street.
Held as part of America 250 Fort Hood Celebrates, the event will feature 16 fighters competing in eight bouts. Each bout will consist of three two-minute rounds, with winners recognized in their respective weight classes.
Doors open at 5 p.m. The event is free and open to all with installation access. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early. Civilians without a Department of Defense identification card may obtain a visitor pass at the Marvin Leath Visitor Center.
Fighter weigh-ins are scheduled for 8 a.m. Sept. 10 at Abrams Physical Fitness Center.
In preparation for the event, workout facilities inside Abrams Physical Fitness Center will close at normal operating hours 8 p.m. Sept. 10. Unmanned 24-hour access will not be available again until 8 a.m. Sept. 12. The facility will reopen at 5 a.m. Sept. 14, excluding the basketball court.
The basketball court will remain closed until basketball goals are installed and related work is complete.
