FORT HOOD, Texas – Fort Hood Child and Youth Services will host the annual Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Skills Meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 28 at Abrams Physical Fitness Center, in partnership with sponsoring military units and community organizations.
More than 500 high school cadets from across Central Texas will converge at Fort Hood later this month to test their discipline, teamwork and leadership skills during a large-scale JROTC competition.
Cadets representing 18 high schools – stretching from Fort Worth to Austin – will compete for top program honors in a series of events designed to showcase precision and knowledge. Competitions include armed and unarmed drill, academic challenges, and male and female color guard performances.
The annual meet offers cadets a chance to represent their schools while demonstrating the skills and values developed through their JROTC training.
Media interested in covering the event must call 254-449-5298 by 3 p.m. March 27. A public affairs representative will escort media from the southside parking lot of the Marvin Leath Visitors Welcome Center at 8:15 a.m. March 28.
