FORT HOOD, Texas – This update corrects errors in the previous statement about how to request a pass for our neighbors who do not have Department of War identification cards. We care about making Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area (BLORA) accessible to as many of our Central Texas neighbors as possible.
Non Department of War identification card holders wanting to visit BLORA may apply for a visitor pass online at PASS.AIE.ARMY.MIL. Visitors will receive a background check after entering their information, including a valid driver’s license or state ID. They will be notified via text if their pass is approved or denied. If approved, they can proceed to the Visitor Welcome Center to complete the pass process and receive their paper pass to access BLORA. For more information, call (254) 287-9909 or go to https://home.army.mil/hood/my-fort/visitor-information.
BLORA has served as a premier destination for Soldiers, their Families and our civilian neighbors. It is a place where the Fort Hood community and local residents come together to unwind, enjoy the natural beauty of the Texas landscape and build lasting memories. We are committed to ensuring it remains a welcoming, easily accessible place for everyone in the community.
Our desire to keep BLORA accessible stems from the bond between Fort Hood and the surrounding Central Texas community. This relationship is built on a foundation of mutual support and deep economic ties. Our installation is more than just a military base; it is an economic heavyweight and a proud neighbor. Fort Hood generates nearly $38 billion in total economic impact for the state of Texas, driving $10.6 billion in disposable personal income. Furthermore, every one of the direct jobs on our post supports approximately two indirect jobs in the local area.
We value our Central Texas neighbors and want you to continue enjoying the natural beauty and recreational opportunities we offer. We hope to see you on the water.
