FORT HOOD – The III Armored Corps and Fort Hood, in conjunction with the Dallas Renegades and the United Football League, are joining together in a unified effort to honor service members and their families through the league-wide “Hats Off To Heroes” initiative. This special event is highlighted by the Dallas Renegades versus the Orlando Storm regular-season game at 7 p.m. May 15 at Phantom Warrior Stadium.
“Bringing the high-octane energy of the United Football League to Fort Hood is a tremendous opportunity for our installation,” Col. Mark McClellan, U.S. Army Garrison-Fort Hood commander, said. “Events like this are a testament to the incredible bond between our military families and the organizations that support them. We are thrilled to host the Renegades and the Storm, and I know our community will show them exactly why Fort Hood is The Great Place.”
Over 4,000 tickets have been distributed for this matchup between the Renegades and the Orlando Storm, which proudly marks the first UFL game ever held on a military installation. There is still time to pick up tickets to this historic event.
We heavily encourage everyone with a DoW ID-card to come out and grab tickets, while supplies last, until 4:30 p.m. May 14 at the Phantom Warrior Center, 37th Street, Bldg. 194 to experience this incredible, one-of-a-kind game. If any tickets remain, DoW ID-card holders may acquire tickets beginning at 5 p.m. May 15 at Phantom Warrior Stadium on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendance is entirely free and stadium seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
This “Hats Off to Heroes” contest serves as a centerpiece for celebrating the courage, sacrifice and dedication of active-duty military, veterans and their communities.
“Our Soldiers and families bring unmatched energy to everything they do, and I know they are going to rock Phantom Warrior Stadium, said Command Sgt. Maj. Loyd Rhoades, U.S. Army Garrison-Fort Hood command sergeant major. “This is a chance to unwind, boost morale and enjoy top-tier football right in our backyard. Let’s pack the bleachers and make this the loudest UFL game of the season!”
For those unable to attend the game in person, the matchup will be nationally televised on FOX UFL FRIDAY at 7 p.m.
Media interested in covering the event must call 254-449-5298 by 3 p.m. May 14. A public affairs representative will escort media from the southside parking lot of the Marvin Leath Visitors Welcome Center at 4:30 p.m. May 15 to the stadium.
