FORT HOOD, Texas – In anticipation of a significant winter weather event, Fort Hood officials have announced the temporary closure of several post facilities from Jan. 24-25 and are encouraging all personnel to review winter weather preparedness actions.
According to the National Weather Service, a winter weather system is forecast to affect the region, bringing freezing rain, ice, and dangerously cold temperatures. These conditions are expected to create hazardous driving conditions and dangerous wind chills across the area from the evening of Jan. 23 into early next week.
While Fort Hood operations are currently continuing as scheduled, the following Family and MWR facilities will be closed as a precautionary measure:
Warrior Way Physical Fitness Center 3 p.m. Jan. 24 – Jan. 25
The Courses of Clear Creek Jan. 24-25
All Manned, Non-24-Hour Physical Fitness Centers 3 p.m. Jan. 24 – Jan. 25
Phantom Warrior Lanes 3 p.m. Jan. 24 – Jan. 25
Community Events and Bingo Center Jan. 24-25
Casey Memorial Library Jan. 24-25
Apache Arts and Crafts Center Jan. 24-25
Sprocket Auto Hobby Shop Jan. 24-25
The Religious Support Office has announced the following impacts on worship services:
The Roman Catholic service at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Alcance Spanish service at OIF Chapel, Gospel service at Comanche Chapel, North Fort Hood Protestant service at North Fort Hood Chapel, ALE service at Old Fort Hood Chapel, Buddhist service at North Fort Hood Chapel, Buddhist service at Rugged Spirit Chapel, Jewish service at Lucky 16 Chapel and the Norse Pagan service at Rugged Spirit Chapel are all cancelled.
The West Fort Hood Protestant service has a delayed start time of 2 p.m. at the West Fort Hood Chapel.
Additionally, there will be a virtual PENTFEL service offered at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 25 on Zoom at https://us06web.zoom.us/j/88505118477?pwd=OF4lbzu1BhSF9WPZEwaaq9AqerRu4J.1 The Meeting ID is 885 0511 8477 and the passcode to watch the service is Spgph5.
All other services will be held at the normal start time.
