FORT HOOD, Texas – Fort Hood officials have designated official on-post trick-or-treating hours for all family housing areas from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.
Installation leadership reminds all motorists to lower driving speeds throughout residential areas, eliminate behind-the-wheel distractions, and remain especially vigilant at intersections and crosswalks.
Parents and guardians are advised to accompany young children, stick to designated pedestrian paths, incorporate reflective tape or flashlights into costumes and choose face paint over vision-obscuring masks to ensure a safe holiday for the entire community.
Along with the traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating on Halloween evening, partner organizations across the installation are hosting multiple structured community gatherings to provide families with fun, secure environments to celebrate and collect treats.
The Fort Hood USO will host its annual Trunk-or-Treat from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 29, in the facility’s rear parking lot, 761st Tank Battalion Avenue, Bldg. 121.
This gathering is open to all active-duty service members and their military dependents and offers a centralized venue where children can collect candy from decorated vehicle trunks. Attendees can also interact with the USO Canines, enjoy pony rides, and showcase their costumes. Admission is free, and advance registration is not required.
Celebrations continue at the Clear Creek Main Exchange Trunk-or-Treat from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Main Exchange on Clear Creek Road.
In addition to the candy stations, the event features local vendors, food trucks, live musical entertainment, and a haunted house walk-through. A costume contest will run from 5 to 6 p.m., with trophies presented to the first-, second-, and third-place winners.
