FORT HOOD, Texas – III Armored Corps and Fort Hood Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation will host Phantom Fury, a combatives competition, at 6 p.m. Aug. 21 at Abrams Physical Fitness Center.
The event will feature Soldiers from across the installation who have advanced through preliminary qualifying rounds to compete in the octagon. Matchups will consist of three, three-minute rounds.
Under official event rules, punches to the face and body, kicks from the shoulders down, takedowns, ground fighting, ground-and-pound, and knees to the body of standing and grounded opponents are permitted. Bouts can end by decision, knockout, technical knockout or submission. Competitors will be wearing four-ounce gloves and shin guards.
Doors will open to the public at 5 p.m. The event is free and open to all ages. A clear bag policy will be strictly enforced at the venue. Non-DOD ID-card holders must obtain an installation gate pass from the Marvin Leath Visitor’s Center prior to accessing the post.
