FORT HOOD, Texas – Fort Hood’s 36th Engineer Brigade will use explosives to demolish the installation’s air assault training tower from noon-1:30 p.m. Jan. 19.
Residents on post and in the nearby communities of Killeen, Harker Heights, and Copperas Cove may hear loud noise and feel ground vibrations as a result of the demolition. The noise may be startling, and residents are advised to keep pets indoors if they are sensitive to loud sounds.
All roads and intersections between 53rd Street and 37th Street from Ivy Division Road north to South Range Road will be closed.
The area around the demolition site will be secured to ensure the safety of all personnel.
The controlled demolition is part of a larger plan to modernize training facilities on the installation. The 36th Engineer Brigade will conduct the demolition, which provides a valuable training opportunity for the unit’s soldiers.
