FORT HOOD, Texas – Fort Hood officials are encouraging commanders, facility managers, and community members to review winter weather preparedness actions ahead of a potential period of colder-than-normal conditions forecast for North and Central Texas later this week.
According to the National Weather Service, a winter weather system may affect the region beginning Jan. 23, with the potential for cold temperatures continuing into early next week. While forecasts continue to evolve, Fort Hood leadership is emphasizing prudent, routine readiness measures to ensure personnel, facilities and services remain prepared.
Commanders and facility managers should take appropriate steps now to review cold-weather checklists, inspect facilities for vulnerabilities such as exposed pipes and ensure continuity plans are up to date in the event of deteriorating weather conditions.
Community members are encouraged to remain informed by monitoring local forecasts and official Fort Hood communication channels. As a general precaution, residents may wish to review personal winter preparedness measures, including home readiness and safe travel planning, should conditions warrant.
At this time, Fort Hood operations continue as scheduled. Any changes to installation operations will be communicated through official channels as conditions develop.
