FORT CAVAZOS (Now designated Fort Hood), Texas — The FORT CAVAZOS (Now designated Fort Hood) Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation will host a ground-breaking ceremony at 1 p.m. Oct. 16 to recognize the beginning of the construction phase of the Abrams Outdoor Fitness Park.
The outdoor fitness park is a project that will be the first of its kind in the Army and is located behind Abrams Physical Fitness Center, on 58th Street.
It will provide a place for family-friendly fitness opportunities. It consists of five diverse fitness spaces including an area to hold group fitness, a multi-use court and a playground for children to enjoy while adults are engaging in physical fitness activities.

On the day of the event, media will gather at the Marvin Leath Visitor Center south side parking lot by 12:30 p.m. to be escorted onto post by public affairs personnel.
