FORT HOOD, Texas – The 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division will formally case its unit colors at a ceremony on Cooper Field at 10 a.m. on May 1, ahead of its upcoming deployment to the U.S. European Command (EUCOM) area of responsibility in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.

RELATED INFO: The ceremony will feature a presentation by a color guard, formation of Soldiers and guidons, and casing of the unit’s flags. The ceremony will represent the movement of the brigade’s headquarters and subordinate units to a deployed environment and recognize the commitment of the unit’s Soldiers.
Approximately 4,000 Black Jack Soldiers and 1,000 pieces of equipment will be deployed to locations across Europe to take part in joint and multinational training and maintain the strength of the alliance between the US and its European partners.
This rotational deployment is a planned rotation of forces to support the United States’ commitment to the security and stability of Europe and strengthening relationships with its allies. The deployment will involve participation in multinational training exercises and a heightened state of readiness to deter potential adversaries.
