FORT HOOD, Texas – Fort Hood’s Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation will host a GORUCK Basic event and Family 5K Run/Walk Sept. 6, offering both a challenging team-building experience and a family-friendly fitness activity.
The GORUCK Basic event steps off at 8 a.m. It is expected to last four to five hours and cover approximately seven miles. Under the guidance of GORUCK Cadre, participants will work together through team-building challenges, ruck some miles, and build camaraderie as they complete the course.
GORUCK Requirements:
Participants must be 16 years or older.
A rucksack with reflectivity.
Ruck Plate (or equivalent) based on body weight:
Over 150 lbs. = 30 lb. Ruck Plate
Under 150 lbs. = 20 lb. Ruck Plate
Water/hydration (1L minimum; hydration bladder, reusable or plastic water bottle recommended).
Any necessary medication.
Government issued photo identification card.
The 5K Run/Walk begins at 9 a.m. This is a family-friendly event that will take one to two hours to complete at each participant’s own pace, covering 3.1 miles. Registration for the 5K is available at any DFMWR fitness facility.
Additional onsite activities will include lawn games for participants and families to enjoy.
Both events are open to the Fort Hood community, encouraging physical fitness, teamwork and family fun.
