FORT HOOD, TEXAS – Fort Hood officials ordered Maj. Blaine McGraw into pretrial confinement on Dec. 2, and he is currently being held in the Bell County Jail, Texas, after apparently violating conditions of liberty imposed by his commander.
In accordance with the Uniform Code of Military Justice, a neutral and detached military magistrate will conduct a pretrial confinement review within seven days, and the magistrate will determine whether continued confinement is warranted. Although McGraw apparently violated restrictions on liberty, there is no evidence to suggest he violated a military protective order related to alleged victims.
Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center (CRDAMC) leadership at Fort Hood suspended McGraw on Oct. 17 upon a patient’s allegation of misconduct. The Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) initiated a formal investigation within hours. McGraw was removed from all patient care duties and access to electronic records to ensure patient safety, and all personnel involved were continuously accounted for. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
Army CID has conducted extensive investigative efforts, both on and off the installation, including but not limited to interviews, law enforcement actions, and digital media examinations. A team comprised of Army CID Special Agents and Analysts has been focused on this investigation, utilizing all available resources to ensure a thorough and complete investigation.
McGraw is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
