FORT HOOD, Texas – Fort Hood will host its annual ribbon cutting ceremony for Santa’s Workshop at the Great Place Nov. 20 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at Building 50001 on Clear Creek Road.
Key installation leaders and invited guests from the surrounding Central Texas community will participate in the official opening of Santa’s Workshop, marking the start of this year’s holiday giving season for Soldiers and families.
Santa’s Workshop at the Great Place is a volunteer-driven program that helps bring holiday cheer to military families by providing age-appropriate toys and gifts for children. Throughout the season, units and organizations across the installation support the effort through donations and volunteer hours. Last year, the organization was able to provide gifts to more than 2,000 children and their families across the installation.
During the ribbon cutting, guests will have an opportunity to tour Santa’s Workshop, meet with volunteers and program leaders, and learn more about how the community can support the effort through donations and volunteer service.
Media interested in covering the ceremony must RSVP to Fort Hood Media Relations at 254-449-5298 by 3 p.m. Nov. 19.
Media representatives should arrive by 6 p.m. and meet Public Affairs staff in the south-side parking lot of the Marvin Leath Visitor Center for an escort to the event site.
