FORT HOOD, Texas —Free Christmas trees will be available during the annual Trees for Troops event Dec. 5 at Phantom Warrior Stadium, Bldg. 50029. Distribution is first-come, first-served and continues until all trees are gone.
Soldiers in grades E-1 through E-4 may pick up their tree from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Soldiers in grades E-5 and above may pick up from 12 to 3 p.m. Remaining trees will be available to retirees and DoD civilians starting at 3 p.m. One tree per household.
All participants must present a valid military ID. Visitors should come prepared to load their own tree and bring tie-downs or rope. Limited supplies will be available on site.
Trees for Troops is a national program run by the Christmas Spirit Foundation that provides free, farm-grown Christmas trees to service members and their families through donations, sponsorships and volunteer support. FedEx delivers the trees to installations at no cost. More information is available at www.treesfortroops.org.
