FORT CAVAZOS (Now designated Fort Hood), Texas — FORT CAVAZOS (Now designated Fort Hood) will welcome more than a dozen veterans and their supporters at 9:10 a.m. May 8 as they cycle through the installation during the 2025 Project Hero/UnitedHealthcare Texas Challenge—a six-day, 500-mile ride from San Antonio to Fort Worth.
Founded in 2008, Project Hero is a national nonprofit helping veterans and first responders recover from post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injuries and physical wounds through rehabilitation and community-based cycling events.
After a brief ceremony and media availability at the III Armored Corps Headquarters flagpole, the riders will depart for Waco, Texas, escorted by local law enforcement and veteran motorcycle riders.
